Newstead House is the oldest surviving home in Brisbane. In 1847 it was sold to government resident Captain John Wickham, and acted as the unofficial government house until 1862. The Newstead House was the center of the Colony’s social events, and lavish parties. In 1978, the Newstead House was renovated and refurnished with Victorian antiques.
